Ocean shipping has begun!

The title says it all: the games have all been manufactured, packed, and are being put onto ships now for the voyage to the US and UK! This matches the updated schedule of Orange Machine Games receiving the packages in late August and shipping back to you as quickly as possible. 

We've slightly extended the deadline for updating shipping information; please update your shipping address if necessary by the 20th, at which point we will be locking down addresses. (And if you haven't filled out your survey, please do!)

Exciting times! We're as eager as you to get these games to doorsteps around the world. In the meantime, here's the first episode of Gin & Tonic's 'Getting On Board' series about game design and publishing!

Hello Abandon Planet backers!

This is just a quick update to let you know that the process of Abandon Planet production is alive and well. Games are currently being manufactured, with only the usual bumps and learning opportunities along the way. We're thrilled with how the mass production copy looked and the finals should be just as great.

Since pallets will be shipping from China in July, it's time for the great address lock down! If you need to change your shipping address, please log in to your Abandon Planet page on BackerKit.com to adjust. If your survey is already filled out and your addy hasn't changed - you're set! We'll be locking addresses on July 10th, so please be sure to check on that soon (shoot me a direct message for any assistance, happy to help).

We are expecting shipments to have crossed the pond by mid to late August. As soon as the packages arrive, we'll prep everything for delivery to your door! We'll be sure to update again as shipping progress continues.

In the meantime, if you would love to know more about game design and the process of publication, check out this teaser for an upcoming web series of which Orange Machine Games (that’s us) will be a part! We're excited to join Gin Yu & Alex Hall of Gin & Tonic Films as they figure out from the sources what goes into brain-storming, prototyping and producing indie board games. Let's get on board!

Mass Production Copy Arrived

This week we received the mass production copy of Abandon Planet from Panda! It looks great, and we couldn't be happier. But take a look for yourselves:

We hope this looks awesome to you! It certainly does to us. The process of making Abandon Planet has been a fun challenge all the way through, and it's great to be in the home stretch. If you have any questions or comments about what you see here, please let us know! Comment below or send a direct message; we'd love to hear from you.

We'll update the project again in about a month, as we get closer to actually getting the game in your hands. Remember that you can change your shipping address anytime by logging into BackerKit, selecting Abandon Planet and updating from there. In the meantime, we're hard at work getting Orange Machine Games ready for release parties, conventions and future games. Can't wait!

Start of Production!

It's official: production has begun on Abandon Planet! We are beyond excited. We received the PPC (Pre-Production Copy) from Panda last week and have been going over every detail of it to make sure the art and materials are just right. Here's what it looks like!

After checking out all the components (not all are pictured above), we have been working with Panda to see what upgrades we can make, and also Bobby has been refining the art all around. Check out these great renders which show off more of the colors and detail:

We hope you love what you see! It's been an awesome challenge to put it all together, but totally worth it. One cost of this work has been the shipping date, which is this coming August. This is later than the original estimated release of May, and we apologize for the delay - there were unexpected learning opportunities that we seized, and we're now the wiser for it!

With production under way, things are looking good for the remainder of the project. We'll post another update once we have the MPC (Mass Production Copy) in about a month, with pretty colored rockets, insert, die, and other components to show off. If you have comments or questions, please be sure to post below or message me directly! Your support is why this project exists, and it's been invaluable throughout the process.

Pre-Production and Backer Surveys

We're ready to enter pre-production! Since the Kickstarter ended we've been working hard to improve and finalize the art, text and rules. That's done now, so today we're sending the art files to Panda. They'll make a prototype, we give the okay, and then we'll head into production! Exciting times. Sadly, the extra development time means we'll most likely be releasing the game early this Summer, rather than May. We sincerely apologize for the delay, and hope you'll trust that it was development effort well spent. 

In the meantime, we've got new front and back covers to show off!

We hope you like them! More good news - the models for 3D printing are complete, as well as the full color PnP and Manual, both with slightly updated tiles and rules. We're using Backerkit for survey management, which is a great tool for organizing pledges and helping backers adjust their order details or add more games if desired.

That email from Backerkit and Orange Machine Games should be coming in the next few days. Once you've completed the survey, you'll have access to the updated Manual, PnP, and rocket files! That's enough goodies to have you playing Abandon Planet well before launch. If you do, please share your game and rockets online! Thanks again for your awesome support. The Orange Machine churns!
